Mexico Hails US
Supreme Court Decision in re DACA and DAPA
Mexican Embassy,
Washington, D.C.
The Government of Mexico welcomes the decision of the United States Supreme Court to review the legality of the preliminary
injunction of the expansion of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and the Deferred Action for
Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA).
In the coming months, the Supreme Court will analyze the decisions
of the district and circuit courts that keep enjoined the implementation of DAPA and expanded DACA. A decision allowing
them to take effect would result in millions of immigrants being able to file applications under these
deferred action programs to enjoy legal certainty and continue contributing to the well-being of their families and enriching
the communities in which they reside.
Mexico calls to take into consideration the positive impact of these programs in the
lives of immigrant families, as well as in the economy and social fabric of the United States.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its consular
network and Embassy in the United States, will closely follow this legal procedure to keep the Mexican community informed.
