Mexico has Created a Record Number
of Jobs during this Administration
Office of the
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto [EPN] said
that 140,347 new jobs were created in March of this year, meaning that, “We are reaching a record figure for job creation during this administration: 2.7 million jobs,” as he inaugurated
the Peñafiel Group’s Tecámac Plant.
● The number of jobs created
in March is also a record figure, and the largest number of jobs created in the month of March since monthly figures began
to be recorded 30 years ago.
● 378,000 new formal jobs were created between January
and March of this year.
“Never in a month of March have so many jobs been
created as the figures released [April 10] show. This means that the first quarter of 2017 has also seen
the highest number of jobs registered since 1997, when employment began to be measured monthly.” EPN
In four years, foreign direct investment (FDI) has reached nearly US$135 billion, also a record figure for a comparable
period in any administration.
“The average FDI we had as a country was two billion dollars per year in the 1980s, and eight
billion dollars annually in the 1990s. Today we have figures of close to $30 billion dollars per year, which without doubt
reflects the significant increase in the confidence Mexico continues to project.” EPN
The structural changes and reforms promoted by this administration
are designed to enable Mexico to keep growing and achieve conditions of greater development.

With an investment of one million pesos, Peñafiel is launching a new plant to join the other three already operating
in the country (Tehuacán, Puebla; Tlajomulco, Jalisco; and Xalostoc in the State of Mexico).
This new plant
will create 500 direct and indirect jobs, in addition to the over 3,000 jobs that have already been created by Peñafiel
across the country.
of this plant confirms the long-term confidence Grupo Peñafiel has in Mexico and its transformation.
