Mexican President Meets with Presumptive President-elect Peña Nieto

Presidency of the Republic

Mexican President Felipe Calderón met on July 17 with Enrique Peña Nieto (EPN), who, according to the district count of the Federal Electoral Institute, obtained the majority of votes during the presidential elections of 1 July 2012.

During the meeting they discussed various items on the national agenda, including economic, political, social and security issues.

They agreed that once the legal electoral process has been completed, and the Electoral Court of the Judicial Branch of the Federation declares EPN president-elect, an orderly process of administrative and political transition will begin.

To this end, President Calderón declared that the government will offer the necessary support to ensure that the process is conducted in an efficient, transparent manner, with strict adherence to the law.
