The Judge's
Opinion is in …
and the Border is Still a Mess
By Silvio
Canto, Jr.
The bad news is that Judge Bolton blew the ruling.
By
the way, I agree with The Dallas Morning's News editorial ("Pre-emptive error in Arizona," July 29, 2010):
"The judge's ruling only compounds the error of the Justice Department,
which also sought, with no supporting evidence, to predict a bad outcome.
"Its lawsuit ensured a judicial remedy to the state law; Arizona is almost
certain to appeal Bolton's injunction to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and, ultimately, to the U.S. Supreme Court."
The good news is that this is not over and it will
go to the Supreme Court.
Beyond politics, is anything being done to protect
the border?
Are border citizens safer today because the Obama administration
spent so much money and time filing a lawsuit?
Today, like yesterday, the US-Mexico border is a war
zone.
We are living next to a country where large segments
of northern Mexico are under the control of the cartels.
Let's hope that the Obama administration will take
seriously the national security crisis across from El Paso, Texas, rather than just worrying about Mexican-American voter
turnout in November.
